28 Nov Consultation on Cosmetics Advertising Guidance now Open
Canada’s advertising industry self-regulator Ad Standards is seeking industry member input on updates to its 2016 Guidelines for the Nonprescription and Cosmetic Industry Regarding Non-therapeutic Advertising and Labelling Claims. This is an opportunity for stakeholders to have a voice in shaping the future of cosmetic product marketing. Ad Standards is seeking feedback on specific advertising claims and categories of products to address in the guidance, which will continue to help distinguish between therapeutic and non-therapeutic claims.
The planned updates come in response to shifting industry trends and the need to close gaps identified by Ad Standards and industry members. This will in turn help to ensure that advertising and labelling standards remain aligned with current practices while continuing to protect consumers.
Feedback can be submitted until January 17, 2025, providing an important chance to influence guidelines that will guide the industry forward. For more information or to share your thoughts, send your comments to guidelinesupdate@adstandards.ca.
