Role Profile
Harris + co. is currently seeking an Associate licensed in Quebec. This 100% remote role will work directly with Principal Kelly Harris, as well as with clients’ in-house counsel and marketing teams to deliver practical, timely, and business-focused legal advice. The successful candidate can expect hands-on training, mentorship, and a focus on work-life balance.
Responsibilities shall include: legal research, preparing advice to clients, drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, drafting legal policies and terms, communicating with professionals and clients, and maintaining organized client files. The role will also include practice management responsibilities such as client onboarding, drafting blog articles, and preparing public presentations.
Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. A competitive and comprehensive vacation entitlement is provided.

Associate
Advertising, Privacy + Product Regulatory
Experience: 1 – 3 years, Quebec licensing required
Location: Virtual, 100% remote
Status: Full Time, 12-month contract
(with options for renewal)
Language: English and French required
Start date: August/September 2023
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
LL.B., J.D. or equivalent
Member of the Barreau du Québec
Minimum 1 year experience in any one or more of the following areas of law:
- Advertising + marketing, including: reviewing ad campaigns, claim substantiation, contests, loyalty programs, and Competition Bureau/Ad Standards investigations/challenges
- Commercial drafting and negotiating, including: agency master services agreements, charitable co-promotion agreements, influencer agreements, sponsorship agreements and drafting offer terms
- Quebec private sector privacy, including: drafting privacy policies, advising on privacy risk of advertising practices, preparing PIAs and reporting confidentiality incidents
- Quebec consumer protection and French language laws
- Product regulatory, including: packaging/labelling, product recalls, and laws relating to the advertising and sale of food, fashion, alcohol, personal care products, travel/hospitality, electronics or telecommunications

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and capabilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills, and the ability to meet demanding deadlines
- Self-direction and effective use of technology (including MS Office and Adobe)
- Practice management, including client onboarding, invoicing and RFPs
- Business development, including managing a website and preparing articles and presentations
